Welcome to Klaus and Ursula König

We have been managing our wine estate since 1984.

We practise viticulture in over 10 hectares of vineyards in the “Weltkulturerbe Mittelrheintal” in Rüdesheim, Assmannshausen, Lorch and Lorchhausen. Our white wines are made from the Riesling grape and in Assmannshausen we grow the Spätburgunder (pinot noir) from which our red wines are made.

All our vineyards are located on south facing, slate rich, steep hills and slopes near the river Rhine. Green cover keeps undesirable weeds down, maintains the capillarity of the soil and protects against erosion. The application of spraying against fungi diseases (powdery mildew, downy mildew, and botrytis) is reduced to an absolute minimum.

We offer a complete assortment to our customers including the white Riesling wines of great elegance, complexity and longevity. You will discover a refreshing fruity flavour with a well balanced acidity. The Riesling bouquet reminds one of fresh apples, apricots, peaches and lemons.

Our Spätburgunder grapes are mashed and traditionally fermented. The wines then ripen in oak barrels until they are full bodied and develop an attractive deep red colour.

We also offer Sekt (sparkling), brandy, marc and yeast brandy.

Each year we take part to various wine competitions, e.g. the Landeswein- prämierung Hessen and some expert wine tastings. Our wines regularly receive gold, silver and bronze medals for their quality and taste.
